From the President

Sean Turner
President, Lessac Training and Research Institute

Hello friends!

Autumn is here and as we transition, I am proud to share with you some recent achievements and developments within the Institute. First, this past summer, the One Week Lessac Voice and Body Workshop at the University of Mary Washington, the Lessac Summer Intensive at DePauw University, and the Teacher Training Workshop were all very well received and successful. The Institute is grateful for all the hard work and positive NRG that those teaching and organizing these events put into them.

Second, the Board and Master Teacher Council met during the summer and continued the important work of shaping the Institute’s vision for achieving its mission, including coming to a consensus on shared values and identification of key areas of growth.  Action plans were developed around Branding, Workshops, Membership, Developing Content, Grant Writing, Endowments, Self-Publication, and Finding a Home.  We look forward to continuing this work at this year’s conference, and will be reaching out to membership for support in the continuing development of these plans.

Third, we are currently promoting our 2014 pre-conference Dialect workshop and Annual Conference at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College, Pennsylvania. The event will be held January 9-11 and as Arthur used to say, “this year’s conference looks to be best to date.” Please visit www.lessacinstitute.com for more details or contact Mary Thomas-Sala at marytsala@yahoo.com.

Fourth, board members Erica Tobolski, Crystal Robbins, and Kate Ingram have been working to support our membership drive this fall by reaching out to previous members and non-active certified trainers. The Institute is dependent on membership, both financially and in spirit, and invites you to support its mission by either renewing your membership or giving a donation. For more information on how you can support the Institute or renew your membership, please visit www.lessacinstitute.com or contact David Turner at djturner@columbusstate.edu

NRGetically yours,
Sean Turner
